George Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770­1831) was one of the most
influential philosophers of the 19th century. Hegel drew his ideas from
many areas in his attempt to create an all-encompassing view of
reality. Hegel’s metaphysical idealism found influence in many circles,
including the politics of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, and the
philosophical schools of phenomenology and existentialism.
